It’s likely for the better that sports betting content is vacating terrestrial radio. It’s a lot of tough listening and they rarely give excellent insight. Why would anyone give up their best tips for $30-50 an hour for the maybe 5,000 people listening on a Saturday morning?

Sportsbooks have been negatively altering the presentation of sports the last few years and radio was no different.

Dan - It can be entertaining when it's good. I thought Dan did a good show on Saturdays. A lot of it sucks, I agree.

I love Nick, he seems to be getting in with the 'EEI AM show...he's a good listen, although he called March Madness all wrong...but entertaining? Yup.

He has great energy and has made some great calls, especially during football and with player props.

Yeah, I'm just bitter because he sold me on Duke over Houston, and probably my fault, but I rode his gut feels on Isiah Pacheco (sp?) to score a TD in the 'chip. He makes up for his soft spot for Lamar and Joe Shiesty with his superpower of being able to immediately shut Scheim and all his twaddle the fuck down...

Good point...at least the chain smoker telling you to call his number is selling his tips...

Curious to see those ratings after listening to Ted Johnson for a few weeks. That show is as rough as advertised.

Yeah, it's a tough listen, Jon.

Cully will be missed. Mostly because of his ability to understand Kirk and his style of madness. Brad Stevens is currently the best GM in Boston sports bar none. Now he isn’t at Patriots Dynasty level…yet. Could still happen and I’m rooting for him. Might not get to Auerbach level because of the way the league is run now, salary caps etc., but he may get 3 or 4 more if he makes the right moves. I trust Stevens, I don’t trust Breslow or Sweeney/Neely.

"Thanks in large part to Jayson Tatum’s injury, I can’t add “Two-Time NBA Champion” quite yet." Which Celtics was this, the Cohasset Pee-Wee league? Did you watch that series?! Tatum's injury caused them to fall short of NY?! They were cooked, and Tatum's injury was just the last layer of liver pate' to apply to that cake. With the addition of Gonzales, with his 3-point shooting acumen, I wouldn't hold your breath for them to pivot from the Mazzula 3-point two-step...does Driveline have a basketball module? Maybe we can get some kind of Boston bundle deal if we group them...Another great quote from Moneyball:

Billy Beane (on playing first base): "It's not that hard, Scott. Tell him, Wash."

Ron Washington: "It's incredibly hard."

Definitely in the "This Is Spinal Tap" class when it comes to un-changeable movies when flipping through channels...(I caught TIST on the other night, with the band trying to find the stage in CLEEEVA-LAAND..."take a little jog down that way" DEREK: "Oh, we don't really have time for that..."🤣🤣🤣But I digress...what it comes down to is this: I don't care how friggin' hot it is in NE, no one over the age of 7 should be walking around with hair that short. I hope you donated it to "Hairless Horses" or some similar charity that might interest you...see you "at the club"...JTD

What Brandon Walker did was NOT assault. It was, however, a BATTERY!

Agree 100% on Stevens. I was hoping for Brown plus whatever for Flagg trade! You were good last night, way to shine in the big moment!

Mut Brandon Walker is a scumbag!!! I like the 1,4 exacta box to upset the Penn Mile. Depending on odds I think Mi Bago threat to wire the field. But the #1 had brutal trip last at Keenland might get up late. But Chad Brown will be tough

Churchill Downs picks for Friday (6/27)

Churchill Downs - Race 3

#1 VAJRA (6/1 ml)

2yo first time starter for Rodolphe Brisset has looked very sharp in the two drills I’ve seen (flashing early gate speed both times), most recently with PASSEWORD, who finished a nice second behind the talented colt COMPORT back on June 1. Prior to that, VAJRA had worked with MERINGUE, who won at +488 odds last week despite a rough trip. Looks set to run well here with Irad Ortiz on board.

#8 CHOPSTICKS (3/1 ml)

Good looking grey filly for Brad Cox has looked sharp in the mornings, most notably with unraced EXONERATE (who is entered Sunday). Seems the main threat.

Churchill Downs - Race 11

#8 BOLD STRENGTH (4/1 ml)

Powerfully built 3yo firster for Brad Cox has definitely caught the eye, and appeared best while working inside the decent stakes horse ADMIRAL DENNIS last month (ADMIRAL DENNIS came out of that drill to win the Delaware Derby a couple of weeks ago). Should run well.

#10 UP COUNTRY (12/1 ml)

First time starter for Brendan Walsh worked a couple of times in a row recently with DAVID OF ATHENS, who beat the good stakes horse PATCH ADAMS in their common debut race last year, then returned out of those drills with UP COUNTRY to run pretty well in a tough allowance race last week (beaten roughly 2 lengths by CAMP HALE in 1:15.41 after breaking slowly). UP COUNTRY also worked a fast 5 furlongs last month (59.20) that was over a full second faster than the next-fastest worker. Looks very live here at the big price.
