We will not be shut out for Saratoga 2023.
That’s because Lisa’s Vision, our Two Minute Pick for Wednesday, once again showed huge heart in the lane and was able to hold off the charging Classic Colors to take Race 7 at the Spa. By a tongue.
We noted in our capping video for the race the heart she showed battling in the lane last out at Belmont. She showed that same fight today stretching out to a mile under a great ride from Flavien Prat. Loved that Prat got the horse involved from the jump.
Even in the double probables, Lisa’s Vision was taking money and ended up going off at 3-1 off the 6-1 ML, paying $8.50 $5.20 and $3.50. Probably an underlay all things considered, but a win is a win. Hopefully, you were able to score on the day as well.
A quick note on these Two Minute Picks …unless there is just nothing on the card to hang my hat on, I won’t be picking ML favorites. I’m trying to find horses at a fair price that I would bet on to win or win and place.
I’ll use the British Open as an example. I think it’s very likely that Scottie or Rory wins this. But I’m not betting on them at 7-1 or 8-1. There are horses that are “most likely winners” that I’m not going to have in these videos. They can be used in multi-race bets, for sure.
We have a whole race card to choose from and hopefully find good bets from for 40 days at the Spa.
Going back to yesterday, at 3-1, Lisa might not have been a great bet. In fact, I bet less than I had planned because it felt a little short. In this case we’ll take it.
We might go 1 for 40 at Saratoga this summer, but it won’t be 0 for 40, thanks to Lisa’s Vision and Falvien Prat.
And with a win under our belts, there is no better time to get signed up ay NYRA Bets.

We’ll have our first MutStack Podcast of the summer late Friday with our friend Jessica Paquette from Parx Racing, talking the late Pick 3 at Saratoga for Saturday, the Haskell, and the closure of another important race track in America.
I’m traveling mid-morning today for a work-related opportunity, so the thoughts on the card will be brief. Our pre-scratch Two Minute Pick is below.
I liked yesterday’s card better from a betting standpoint. There are three MSW races in the early Pick 5, two of those for two-year-olds. Pass for me on that sequence.
For these two-year-old races, I consult the DRF Clocker Report. Mike Welsch, Mike Vesce and the crew have put a lot of money in my pockets over the years.
If you can’t get the Clocker Report, the board can tell some of the story in these baby races. Watch the money. Didn’t help yesterday as the Danny Gargan filly took little money, crushed and paid $15 in Race 6.
Race 1: Over last year (per DRF Formulator), trainer Phil Bauer 7-2-2-1 going route to sprint on the dirt. Feels like a move he likes these days and #6 Little Prankster is making that move.
Race 3: Lot of speed on paper in here and toyed with #1 King James as my pick today. Should sit a sweet trip.
Race 6: Will be watching the board but #4 Lamorna has some interesting turf pedigree.
Race 7: The entry looks tough. #obvious
Race 8: The favorite looks good. #againobvious
Race 10: Go watch the replay of that June 18th race that some of these come out of, including #7 Ramblin’ Wreck. I thought he ran HUGE that day after a slow start and is a deserving favorite in the finale.
We’ll go to a deep Race 9 for our Two Minute Pick, presented by NYRA Bets.
What a thumbnail.
Will update later if we get scratched.

Good luck if you’re playing Saratoga today!
