Your home for 2-1 winners…MutStack.com!
Not like we drew it up in our heads, but Ship Cadet got it done in off-the-turf Skidmore on Friday, returning $6.90 on top as the second choice. Manny Franco blasted off from the inside and never looked back on a sealed racetrack he really seemed to take to. Second-place finisher El Grande O did not have an awesome trip, to say the least. Seize the Grey was coming late after taking a good bump early. Our choice benefitted from the trips of those two, for sure.
For trainer Mike Maker, his fourth off-the-turf, non-graded stake win at Saratoga over the last five years. Random, but true.
Also random but true - 10 different jockeys won the 10 races at Saratoga Friday and none of them were named Irad or Jose Ortiz.
Second win of the week and the fifth of the summer for our Two Minute Picks. We’ll need to finish strong the final 13 days of the meet.
Two winners this week! Now is the time to sign up!

What are you waiting for?!?
The goal of this daily Saratoga writing was not to find $6 horses and pat ourselves on the back. Hopefully, you get the sarcasm in that silly, purple image above.
Three races off the turf today thanks to the continued rain in Saratoga, but a very good Alabama card.
Race 3 finds our Two Minute Pick presented by NYRA Bets.
Boom. Nailed the thumbnail again.
Other ideas today
Race 1: #2 Remember the Name might be a runner. A few bucks for me.
Race 2: The #11 Rocket Night. See above.
Race 5: #5 A La Carte was super wide last time and has worked well since. Ran two very fast races earlier this year.
Race 7: My dumb price idea - #5 Junipermarshmellow. Two solid races as a two-year-old. Working well. Todd Pletcher being very aggressive here off a long layoff and I have to be a few bucks. Team Chad and Juniper.
Race 8: Gerrymander is supposed to wire this group. Scratches help.
Race 9: The Alabama. The most likely winner is #2 Wet Paint…but at 2-1 I could not bet in this group. My four win contenders- #2 Wet Paint, #3 Julia Shining, #7 Gambling Girl and #9 Taxed. At their respective ML prices, I’d be okay with betting Taxed. Will adjust when we see the prices prerace.
Will be using all four in the Late Picks.
Race 10: #4 Storm the Court
Race 11: 1A, 10, 14 to close the day.
