It’s early but Linda Rice came to play this summer. She’s live with every entry and supposedly was very active in Kentucky this spring claiming horses to run at this meet. Told the crew I was with Thursday I thought she would win the training title - she’s done it up here before. And nothing I’ve seen the last two days makes me feel any different.

WEATHER - WET; RACES 3 AND 6 OFF

Days like these (washout days) are not days I typically bet very much. There is too much unknown about not only the condition of the track but how the horses will take to it.

Normally I like to focus on the off-the-turf races and hope that the betting public ignores an obvious dirt horse that stays in the race or comes in as an MTO. They make him an overlay and I bet to win. NYRA must have seen the weather and did a smart thing, only carding three turf races. But we’re limited in our usual approach.

Race 3 - All MTOs for me and would be happy betting #8 Skratch Kat. The other two MTOs are quick and Linny Kate has to go. Should get a nice setup.

Race 6 - #2 Dr. Kringle ran a good number two back on dirt. #6 Ringside is interesting … Todd had this one he ran 3rd to Perform at Tampa on the dirt. Since then gelded and now trained by Jack Sisterson, who is 31% first time with trainer. #7 Dreamwithinadream showed good speed on the dirt in his last and fits. Even #8 Fast Boat To Skye has some back races on dirt that make sense. Interesting race where I would not default to the MTOs, of which I prefer the 1A.

But there are some trainer stats to key in on in our play in the 10th.
