I don't hate Eliot Wolf's approach. I think two factors worked against him and his approach this off-season:
1) They could not sign one big external free agent. I believe this is for a few reasons, including everyone knowing this team was not going to compete for a championship and the uncertainty of Jerod Mayo as head coach. There were a lot of question marks and I believe that prevented some bigger moves they hoped to make, including trading for a No. 1 wide receiver.
2) Their high hopes for rookie offensive linemen did not pan out. They had to pick Drake Maye at No. 3, so there was no way they could trade out of that spot. They tried to jump into the later part of the first round to grab a bonafide, first-round tackle but that fell through, too. So they were left picking Ja'Lynn Polk in the second round which, granted, is a need but not as bad as OT. But, to get an OT there, they would have really been reaching. This put them in a tight spot going forward in the draft.
With all that said, if the Patriots don't draft either LSU's Will Campbell or Texas' Kelvin Banks, Jr., with their first pick in 2025, I will be shocked. There could be some other movers and shakers from the OT position that move their way up (Rutgers' Hollin Pierce is a monster), but no other move makes sense. I wonder what Vegas would have for odds of the Patriots' first pick next year being an offensive lineman.
As far as betting goes this weekend, I really like Pats-Dolphins first half under 17.5 points more than the game total. Something tells me this will be a 3-0 or 6-3 game at halftime.
Yeah, feels like they HAVE to go OL at the top of the draft. I think you're being to kind about Wolf's OL approach, but great stuff. Thanks for reading and commenting!
I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's got the proven lineage and it's only been four games. As hard as this is to say, I don't think we'll really know if it works one way or another for two to three years...
Okay, so fuck John Henry. This dude gives off the whole, I'm afraid of the media and I have other businesses. That's the red sox to him, a business. A .500 record is not good enough, trading for pitchers in their mid-thirties, trading Chris Sale for Vaughn Grissom: as Sale is about to win the Cy Young, extending Cora, whom I am in the vast minority of disliking and the whole lack of commitment to winning. Sam Kennedy sounds like that secret service woman when she testified, talks in circles and never really answers the question. I am so glad I was tuned out of sports this year.
That being said, Abreu and Rafela essentially being 1 and 2 in rookie of the year is huge bright spot, idk if those are Chaim Bloom's projects or not. Jarren Duran has become a huge part of the team imo. Calling that fan a f**got probably wasn't the best idea but, boy how fast people forgot about that. He's great. Connor Wong is a solid tiny catcher. Casa seemed to pick it up at the end of the year.
Just remember, we chose Blobby Dalbec over Kyle Schwarber. A massive disappointment. He fit right in.
Pats are in a rebuild, so I cannot and will not gloat about the niners win. It was expected and y'all have no O-line.
If only the red sox could find a guy for WEEI, some guy they had before, I think his name was Mike? He was the shit and got me into to sports talk radio. Hasn't been the same.
I also strongly prefer OB on the radio, someone else can-do play by play on NESN. Idk who is available but, OB is dry as plaster and Youk, while cool, lol. Mike Monaco is great as well.

That's how you do it, Chip
Say what you will about Jerry, he loves baseball and his team. Can’t say that about our ownership
Mr. Mut,
I have watched each episode of SportsBook Live and have to credit you for being an impressive sports broadcaster.
The show itself ... ermmmm ... but your professionalism and attempts to make chicken salad from what you're given is praiseworthy.
You have talent.
Another great edition of the FFP.
And I appreciate you finally getting to the serious stories on Fridays, Mr. Flappr.
I agree with Flappr
Have genuine love for you Mr. Mut
