Great read mut, wonder your thoughts on people like John Henry owning the sox not spending much money but spending 500 million on his soccer team Liverpool in the summer? Do you think the ownership of teams in multiple sports should be more closely looked at?

I don’t necessarily think so. You can see the trends. Kronke owns the rams and arsenal. His spending on arsenal went down massively when he moved the rams to LA, as that project cost way over a billion. These “sports groups” move money from each team a lot.

Yeah, I saw he went nuts in Liverpool. I always assumed it was separate revenue streams? But I get why a lot of fans are upset by it, and thought that FSG selling the Penguins might mean more spending on the Sox.

Since we are in the Mutstack.com Trust Tree, I will say that I am baffled by the people who prefer Spotify to Amazon Music. "Prime members can listen ad free...through Amazon Music" lives in my head rent free.

Mut (Mike Mutnansky)'s avatar

How about this David...they could use Prime under the family plan and chose not to!

Re: Dodgers

Your 2nd and 3rd points totally conflict with each other. Losing a full season of baseball is *absolutely* awful for baseball.

You can’t stop Merklinger, you can only hope to contain him.

I agree this isn't the Dodgers' fault but it doesn't mean I have to like it. I also agree the 2027 lockout is going to be messy and at this point, not living in a major league city I don't care. Hockey saved their sport in 2005 by missing an entire season.

One loophole I'd like to see closed is the "deferred money" sham. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Ohtani is only counting $2M towards the Dodgers tax this year. Most of his $700M is deferred until retirement. If you counted another $50-60M per year against the CBT it may even make them think twice.

Mut (Mike Mutnansky)'s avatar

Yeah that’s fair Bama. The deferral thing.. eh

Mut do you anything misspelled?

Mut (Mike Mutnansky)'s avatar

Thanks you chip. Next week i’ll send you the final draft you can edit it for me!

Also, it stinks losing out on Bichette

I’d be honored to do so

Drake played his worst game of the season and the defense bailed him out. What game were you watching Mut?

Mut (Mike Mutnansky)'s avatar

Totally disagree. Made huge plays with his legs and when it mattered most, A++ throw to Henry.

Joshua's avatar

D minus minus throw to wide open hooper earlier in the game. Turned it over in the red zone. Love the kid but he definitely has been much better all year than he was last week and he needs to play way better this Sunday to win.

Great note. I fear Breslow is so disliked by his peers that it will have a long-term impact on the team.
