Greg Hill was able to transplant his show to EEI and be successful because he is the clear lead, has a loyal following, and his previous show/station ceased to exist. Are there any other examples in the recent past of β€œnew” terrestrial radio shows doing well? Radio is dying a slow death, so anyone leaving a successful show with a good paycheck should not expect an upward trajectory in that industry. I think Rich is done in Boston for good and will end up hosting a SiriusXM channel if he insists on first mic. For those in the industry – are there 100K plus salary options as a producer on a syndicated radio show or big podcast for a guy like Rich?

Rich should have taken a page out of Robin Quivers' book (not literally, now that I realize that she surely has one), and realize when you got a good thing going as the #2, and don't cause problems...and if you do - and make it- good on you. But if you don't...it's all in the mirror.

I think Rich saw the show dynamic as less Stern/quivers and more Mike and the mad dog and he was very wrong.

I agree 100% on this. I thought he'd bring his audience with him but it just did not happen.

There might be for a big syndicated show, Dan. But I'm sure those jobs don't open up very often.

Great read, busy month for me haven't been able to keep up. lol

I have continued to be tuned of out sports but I still love football so I watch the clips/highlights and read the stories.

*be me, in my 6th year with my fantasy league*

*having come in 2nd for the last 2 years*

*currently 3rd place in the league*

*haven't watched an entire game all season*

lol

I didn't listen to Rick or any radio, the few times my phone did not connect, my radio defaulted to EEI, what a boring mix of characters and once again, NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT SPORTS. I get that radio and sports brings about many topics but FFS man.

Radio is dying, I legit don't know anyone who listens. It's always podcasts or apps.

I miss radio, I don't know if any podcasts are live, and I can call in. That was my favorite part. I will never forget the first time I called into Mut & Merloni, and what a great conversation we had. Been a Mutman ever since. IDK if you have any recommendations or if that is even a thing lol.

Kirk's podcast is never on when I can watch.

Patriots look like a mess still but, they definitely drafted better than Bill, I expect the Pats to be competitive by 2026.

I can't wait to be disappointed by the nothing the Red Sox do this offseason, some real bright sports with the rooks this season but, 81-81 is unacceptable, why they gave Cora such a long contract I will never understand but, that's why I'm a fan not an owner lol.

Good looks my dude. We'll have a beer one day, one day. :) lol

Great insight Mut and Dying Guy. I wish I wasn’t busy on Thursday evenings, otherwise I would have made the trek to Mohegan but alas, duty calls. I hope you can turn this into something money making soon.

I just remember Fred being really burned over the fact that he was going through some shit, and his supposed "friends" just turned out to be work colleagues. Not to be naive, but I read somewhere (Herald?) where Toucher was in recovery for his vocal issues, and said he hadn't heard from Rich S. in 5 months, and his feelings did seem to be smarting...

Apropos of nothing, two things: if we're going to humble brag, and if I knew how to search through my Twitter feed, I could prove that I called Swayman's point of no return in June (speaking of getting feelings hurt)...freakin' Canadians are so sensi...should have dealt him the moment things went sour, and let someone else deal with a (talented) dude that wants to get prematurely paid like an elite goalie, even though his trophy case is uncontaminated by Veznas, Stanley's, etc. like those others' are...and B: I finally watched Patriots Day, and am adding to the list of questions I need answered in my lifetime: "Where do they get these actors that are sitting around waiting to get cast as Deval Patrick...and friggin' Tom Menino?!" That Donny W. sure loves him some screen time, too...Jesus. Just to comment on a few things you didn't remotely discuss herein. Good stuff, Mutt.

Good memory on the Fred stuff, JD. Forgot about that - that Rich never really reached out.
