Every owner in the NFL is going to hold it over their coaches heads like a Belichick On The Shelichick..."He's just a phone call away, you know...one text and his old $35 Million ass can be on a shuttle from Nantucket...the kids, Matty and Joey can take a bus..."...and one of these young coaches WILL mess up enough...you know it's completely possible.

Lot of questions if he comes back and coached a winner, JD.

Selfishly happy Sean, Will and Lou will be back for one more season on terrible pitching.

Gambling with ESPN seems dirty. I’ll pass.

This is a JUICY Stack today, Mut.

A couple thoughts:

The simple fact is that it's no longer a Belichick and his disciples league. It's now a Shanahan league. Every team wants to hit on the next, best young coaching talent. They don't want to miss on a McVay, McDaniel, etc., etc. Ten years ago the league wanted to take all the talent Belichick could groom. Now it's on to the next big thing.

Also, there was so much hoopla about Belichick and a potential owner gelling (politically, some claim?). But the bigger issue, at the end of the day, is whether or not Belichick could gel with his new GM if he didn't assume those powers. Atlanta has a young, talented GM holding the reins. If either of those guys didn't have faith in the other, it could be enough for Atlanta to pass on Bill, or vice versa.

This is one easy bet to cash: Come Week 3 or 4 of the 2024 NFL season, analysts will be asking, "Should Team X fire its coach and hire Bill Belichick?" That'll be the dialogue that replaces the, "Should Brady come back?" narrative we had so much fun with.

Cheers, Mut.

Belichick looming over all 32 teams into next season is a good storyline for sure.

Belichick status is so interesting. The fact that he interviewed - TWICE - with lowly Atlanta and they hired a DEFENSIVE guy with a losing record over him has to be somewhat humbling. If he doesn't get a gig next year he's finished.

Another 0-fer on the picks - ouch. Proving once again - nobody knows anything except the sharks.
