It's amazing to say this but I do not listen to one ounce of anything from WEEI anymore. Their voice is irrelevant to anything going on. The death of the Boston Globe sports page has really impacted any additional voices in the market. The only bench is Patriots writers now. The columnists are not interesting, the red sox beat writers are tired and old. The papers in town really hurt the radio in town.
another EEI disappointment. Legit no reason to listen. I miss sports radio, calling in and having great conversations. I like Arcan, but what I really want is Mut and Merloni, first show I ever called into and that's why you're my dude. I worked with some dude over the summer who said his cousin used to go to school with you. Idk his name or not, but he agreed, Mut is the man. I also enjoyed Chris Vilani and John Ryder, always good talks with them. Even planet Mikey, my longest phone call at like 11 minutes on the radio. Good times.
WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED to SPORTS RADIO IN THIS TOWN?!?!?
I found Kirk's podcast, I will find a day and maybe join, idk if it is live or how that works but... we will speak soon. Football coming soon. Sportsbars?
I would never wish ill will on anyone, so I hope Andy Gresh had his next gig lined up, because he HAD to have seen this coming...Laird's vision is definitely the new "thinking man's" WEEI, with himself and Curtis on Saturdays, Lou Merloni's astute analysis, and Jones' SO contrived schtick of giving no one the benefit of the doubt, while misinterpreting every sound bite uttered by an athlete - even that takes some thought, and Arcand clearly gives some thought to his takes.
The meathead crew-that thought whatever popped into their heads was good enough for the Boston Sports fan-had been corralled out: Ordway, Sheppard, Smerlas...and Gresh was the last of the meatheads to go. Matter of time.
Jones and Keefe sounded fun today. It will be interesting to see how long the afternoon/evening shows will last. Sox/NFL schedule allows WEEI to wait until October to get the night time figured out. I think the first open night show date is 9/16. One or two Mondays after that.
Is the Ryan Johnston/Bruins gig the shoe that needs to drop for Mike Thomas to make his next move? Him and Hart would be fairly boring outside of football imo but I haven’t listened to much of RJ.
It will be interesting to see how they use MegO going forward. I still think with her, Turp, jones/Keefe and Arcand they have a decent group of hoops people.
lol Did Rich already run out of energy rehashing bits from the old days? He’s like the RFKJr of sports radio. Meanwhile Adam 12 helps to put another station to rest.
I’m assuming there’s a college football gig out there somewhere for Gresh?

Take care.
Football! Kirk's show is live on YouTube and also on podcast.
I miss Jon Ryder!

Yeah, I don't know what the vision is, JD, But Jones and Keefe is an upgrade 10-2.
Mut, I was at the Whitney and we ran out of ice….I was shocked that they weren’t selling ice at the Spa this year…..get going for ‘25 !!!!
Great, great point...I will say until then Kings Tavern right next to the track has ice for sale...
Mut you watch “Cowboy Cartel” on AppleTV about the cartels getting involved in quarter horse racing?
I do not have Apple TV...I don't think. Any good?

Will have an update on some WEEI rumors Friday, Jon.
100% agree - Jones and Keefe should have been paired up two years ago. "A layup" as one radio person told me this week.
Mut, it seems like the Mini-fans hate you as much as the Hockey Hardos hate Scoops Keefe.

The ups and downs of being a KMS fan/guest.
